I think the most productive and interesting parts of the program were the emphasis on pronunciation and writing.

Bryson from Summer Short-term 2024

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I sincerely enjoyed the class outing to visit Yamanashi, I think it’s important to see and experience Japan’s nature and culture first-hand. I also enjoyed Kotoba-Day, it was engaging and exciting.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I think the most productive and interesting parts of the program were the emphasis on pronunciation and writing. It was new for me, but now I value pronunciation and writing as much as the other skills. I can’t think of any negative or uninteresting aspects at the moment.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I would say pair work and daily kanji tests.

Any suggestions for improving class activities or materials?

I think some teachers are more engaging than others, but overall I was satisfied with the class activities and material.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Make sure you set aside time for studying, especially if you’re in a higher level. It’s important to find a good balance between studying and enjoying life in Japan/using practical Japanese in the real world.

Testimonials

If you’re considering KCP, just sign up. If you have to, save up for it. It was worth it. I continue to learn the language, I continue to make new friends, I continue to find new, unfamiliar and exciting places and all of this was possible because I made the decision to learn at KCP. I have met some really great people (friends as well as teachers) who have helped me grow as a person. I’m thankful for this time I’ve spent here. It really has gone by too fast but I will forever remember the memories I’ve made here.
