I found the tests and the drills the most helpful.
Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?
Speaking with native Japanese speakers that are brought in to speak with us is very helpful because it’s not often you can have a conversation that isn’t, in some form, customer service. it’s good to get out of the “script” mentality when learning a language
What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?
The way they taught te form was different from how I’ve learned it but it’s always nice to have a new perspective. I liked how the teachers would make our interests, hobbies, and lives into the sentences to make them more personal and I like the amount of examples they used in class. Least: I’m, but Kotoba Day. Seemed a little messy, it’s a great idea with poor execution
What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?
I found the tests and the drills the most helpful The tests would help me realize what tiny mistakes I was making (a lot) and the drills helped me be able to craft more complex sentences.
What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?
I don’t have time to go places because of the schedule so it’s nice to go places with the school. We also got to see many Japanese cultural aspects up close. Was fun
Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?
Participation is very important so don’t be shy. It helps I promise
