Read morePair work has been the most helpful for me as within these interactions I can see my Japanese that I just learned come to life as it enters another persons ear and triggers the desired response. To me that is truly speaking a language.

Practice speaking every chance you get; be friendly and open-minded and willing to try new things, and I think that you’ll have a really wonderful time, even if your time is short!

Read moreAlways try to volunteer for Kaiwa during class. Even though its embarrassing, you will remember words and sentence structure better. If you stay quiet in class all the time, you will probably struggle. Senseis are very nice so go to them for help if you need it.
