Immersion Language School and Program Explained

The benefits of being bilingual in globalized world is unrefuted. A language immersion program may be the fastest way to learn a foreign language. Courses are designed to help students become deeply involved in their studies and to encourage opportunities for further advancing their learning process. Immersion programs recognize the need for students to see and use relationships among disciplines. Immersion experiences allow students to also embrace opportunities to work collaboratively with peers and teachers. Immersion schools and programs intend to stimulate learning coupled with deepened understanding of interest in a second chosen language, its people and culture.

Immersion programs vs. Traditional courses

Traditional foreign language courses allow students to learn a new language for a few hours in a school day while still partially utilizing their own native language. Students enrolled in an immersion school on the other hand are literally immersed in the language they are learning. Majority, if not all of the classes, will be taught in their chosen language. The student will be in a completely immersive environment with continuous exposure to a new language. This helps students quickly understand and accelerate the learning process.

Immersion programs provide varied intense periods for students to be fully immersed in challenging and rich learning experiences in the country of origin of a particular language. Immersion courses are experiential. Learning is hands-on, at times exploratory and even when classes are conducted in a classroom, students are multinational and will have only the language they are learning as a common language to communicate amongst each other.

KCP as an immersion school

KCP International Japanese Language School is well known for its Japanese language and cultural immersion in the heart of Japan, in Tokyo. KCP serves about 900 students per year, and you will have two to three instructors per class. While most students are from other parts of Asia and all instruction is in Japanese, English-speaking staff provide extensive language support, including special tutorials, as the need arises for our U.S. students as they learn the Japanese language.

Advantage of cultural immersion

Cultural immersion allows students to learn about a particular culture and helps preserve history, the people and local cuisine. Cultural immersion can open doors to a deeper personal understanding of new places and people. The immersive experience adds more depth to just learning the Japanese language.
