All of the Saturday culture classes were satisfying because they each showcased a different side of Japan, like traditional side in Asakusa and the otaku side in Akihabara.
Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?
Overnight trip to Yamanashi because it showed the traditional side of Japan that we wouldn't have been able to see on our own living in Tokyo. The school-wide barbecue was also fun because of the more relaxed atmosphere and view of Mt. Fuji.
Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?
All of the Saturday culture classes were satisfying because they each showcased a different side of Japan, like traditional side in Asakusa and the otaku side in Akihabara.
What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?
Going around the room forming sentences around the vocabulary on the smart screen was excellent practice in pronunciation and forcing ourselves to think quicker. Sensei asking about our home countries and hometowns (etc) was also helpful because we were already familiar with the topic, which just left describing it using the vocabulary.
What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?
It allowed us to see parts of Tokyo and sometimes rural Japan that we wouldn't have seen on our own.
What did you find least valuable in the Culture Course?
All of the culture classes were valuable in their own way because they showed us different parts of Tokyo.
